DataStar's V-MAC Reliant
is a networked (V-MAC DataBus) Monitoring, Alarm and Control
system with up to 36 - 24 input Multiplexed Data Gathering panels and 16
- 4 input RPM/Frequency nodes reporting to 4 networked (V-MAC DataBus)
Control Group panels. Each Control Group panel reports to the Master DMU
and is capable of standalone operation. Each of the channels on the
system is fully configurable, and will be customized to the vessel's
specific requirements and delivered turnkey.
Typically
input is acquired from a hardwired sensor. V-MAC can also receive input
from ModBus devices, CanBus devices, Cobra devices, electronic engines and NMEA 0183.
Each
input optionally creates reports for (a) Hour Logging and (b) Trend Plot
analysis. The entire system can be saved to file as a (c) SnapShot
overview. Settings for a, b and c are from 10 seconds to 24-hour periods
depending on vessel requirements. Settings are pass code protected.
Output
is achieved with 4 form C relays and 3 fixed DC voltage on each MUX
panel plus 1 fixed DC voltage and 1 synthesized audio on each Keypad
Node. Also ModBus and CanBus variable outputs for automation.
V-MAC
may
be configured to serve a wide range of applications. In its simplest form, V-MAC is ideal as an affordable integrated alarm system for
home, office, yachts and work boats. Yet the V-MAC Reliant is fully expandable
to supervise a wide range of operating systems on
the largest commercial, industrial, military and marine applications.

Sensors:
Sensors throughout the system are
connected to DataStar Compatible Data Acquisition Panels. These "MUX panels" electrically
condition the incoming feeds from each sensor and convert the information,
whether analog or digital, to a digital code. Digital signals are
then combined (multiplexed) into encoded message packets, and sent via
the V-MAC DataBus to the V-MAC Main Control panel for processing.
A variety of Input types are
handled by Line Conditioning Modules. These plug-in LC Modules
provide the first stage of signal processing and allow the V-MAC Reliant
to accept data from virtually any sensor or data source.
Seven standard LCM designs will accommodate data from many
different sensor types:
-
Digital Switches (door contacts and
switches etc.)
-
4-20mA
-
0-16, 0-32 and 0-60 DC Voltage
-
AC Voltage Transformers and
Current Transformers
-
Variable Resistance
-
RTD (Resistance Temperature Device)
-
Thermistor

RPM
& Frequency: The
DataStar RPM/
Frequency Node can measure frequency input such as engine speed and AC generator
frequency with a high degree of accuracy.
Interface:
DataTerm
G55: Warnings, alarms,
and other messages are displayed on a back-lit LCD screen.
Multicolored LEDs provide system information and indicate the status of
certain onboard sensors. The keypad is also used to acknowledge alarms,
program the V-MAC system, and view the log.
Data
Management Unit (DMU - Marine), Machine Management Unit (HMU - Industrial,
Commercial and Military) and Home Management Unit (HMU - Residential version):
The fully-equipped V-MAC Reliant includes
multiple networked Management Units running Visual V-MAC
software. In addition to alerting the operator to alarms and warning
messages Visual V-MAC displays information on all monitored systems.
Visual V-MAC is completely User
modifiable so gauges and controls can be added at any time. Once your
design changes have been made the design can be locked with a pass code.
